Your hen night is a fantastic opportunity to indulge your love for dressing up. Some people hate the idea of fancy dress, there are loads of us, however, who absolutely love it and there’s a whole world of things you can do – whether you tie in your dress code with your theme at large or let people come however they like, there is something out there for everyone. Here are some of my favourite, era-defined outfits:

20′s.
Flapper girls and gangsters, in 1920′s attire you can bring a bit of old-school glamour to your evening.  1920′s fashion just oozes style and sophistication. Think headbands, feather boas, cigarette holders and caberet. If that’s not your thing, pin striped suits and trilbies can look great on women as well as men.

50′s.
Polka dots and pop socks and good, old fashioned rock n’ roll. I adore 1950′s fashion and the look is really obtainable now it has found a bit of a resurgance on the high street. Gloves, pearls and swing skirts are a must as well as those all important heels. A 1950′s theme screams cute and fun and more importantly, looks amazing.

60′s.
Flower power and flares, the swinging sixties are all about bold prints and bright colours. Whether you choose to don your flares and your tie-dye t-shirts or risk a little bit more with a daring mini skirt, a 60′s theme screams fun, flirtation and flower power.

70′s.
Disco, disco, disco. Think shiny catsuits, wide flares and afro wigs. The 70s were very much about metallics so don your platforms and become a dancing queen for the night.

80′s.
Arguably the least successful era for fashion, it’s unmistakable (and fun!) nonetheless. Flash dance style leg warmers, shell suits and new-wave and punk are all great, instantly recognisable looks. Mullet wigs, perms, back combing and LOTS of hairspray will complete this distinctive look.
